JOB SUMMARY:
Provides health care services through delivery of professional nursing care appropriate to patients population and condition in consideration of the diverse physical, emotional, spiritual and socio-economic needs and beliefs of families and the community in accordance with all Tribal, state, federal and licensing standards and guidelines
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Current State of Arizona RN license; American Heart Association BLS, PALS certificate within 30 days of hire
2. 1 year previous nursing experience with ability to perform more advanced clinical skills preferred
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides population appropriate nursing care to the episodic, urgent, emergent, acute and/or chronically ill in a clinic setting
2. Performs assessment, triage, intervention, treatment, evaluation and referral as appropriate
3. Administers patient treatments as ordered including maintenance injections; initiates and monitors IV therapy and Non stress tests; assesses patient reactions and performs interventions as appropriate for patient safety
4. Performs ongoing patient/family assessment and identifies variances from diagnosis
5. Maintains and updates patient’s medical records through concise, accurate and timely documentation
6. Works collaboratively with patient care team and family members to establish and implement plan of care to ensure coordination of activities and ongoing communication of patient health status
7. Participates in patient care rounds and patient care conferences as appropriate
8. Continually assesses and evaluates patient’s health status and response to care, teaching and discharge plan
9. Shares observations and assessment outcomes with health care team and family to ensure communication and understanding of patient health status, progress and ongoing needs
10. As primary nursing care provider, supervises patient care activities of assigned team members, delegates activities appropriate to knowledge, skill and competency; provides timely feedback and review of care delivery to ensure maintenance of patient safety, infection control procedures and therapeutic environment
11. Maintains professional and technical competency through regular participation in a variety of educational programs and in-services, reviews relevant professional publications and materials
12. Develops and maintains good working and professional relationships with other health care team members and providers to facilitate open and cooperative communication
13. Assists ambulate patient to and from other clinic areas
14. Actively participates/assists during urgent care situations as directed; initiates and administers CPR as appropriate
15. Provides orientation to the clinic and hospital systems and processes to patients and family members
16. Contributes to the team/unit’s efforts by completing required activities within established parameters to ensure compliance with all applicable medication, storage and documentation standards, regulations and requirements
17. Reviews and reinforces with patient/family ongoing education of basic technical procedures, activities and safety necessary for daily living
18. Participates in departmental orientation, on the job training and quality assurance programs/initiatives
19. Participates in a variety of department and hospital educational programs to maintain current skills and competency levels; identifies and discusses performance or training needs with Supervisor
20. Participates in orientation, preceptorship, mentoring new employees and students
